It’s Halloween people! Well, almost. The leaves are turning, AMC is filled with quality horror flicks (plus the return of The Walking Dead!), I’ve got the graveyard set up in my front yard to scare the neighborhood kids, my fantasy football team, the Bro Stache, is making its mid-season climb up the rankings. As you can see, life is good! Now if only I had something good to read. Oh wait!
Earlier this year, I had the
fantastic opportunity to read and review the first edition of Strange Kid’s
Anthology. As mentioned in the previous review,
I was pretty excited to hear that, not only was there going to be a second
installment, but it was due out around Halloween. Well, here we are folks! The Kid is back!
This
issue was a bit shorter, but when one considers the quality and twisted fun
included on these pages, quantity ceases to be an issue. Based on some of the references, I can tell
that Mr. Scott and I are from the same era (wait a second… is that a Power Glove?!), which makes the journey even more enjoyable.
The interlude during the latest fly-by over
the world of Strange Kid involves an interview with illustrator/director David
Hartman. I’ll be completely honest in
saying that I needed to Google the name while reading the interview, but anyone
who had anything to do with The
Devil’s Rejects comic, based on one of my all-time favorite films, is alright
with me! Aside from that, his portfolio
of work is pretty fantastic and the questions asked by Ron are just far enough
away from the norm to make the interview incredibly entertaining. I won’t give much away, but the lead question
involves a fight to the death between Winnie the Pooh and the “mercury bear”
from Prophecy. Needless to say, you won’t be
disappointed.
The
Strange Kid runs his usual gamut between zombie killer and medieval warrior
throughout the issue. And this time, all
of the mayhem comes just in time for Halloween!
If you get a chance, swing over to the Strange Kids Club and grab a copy. You won’t be disappointed!!
