THE MAN-CAVE'S FAVORITE MOMENTS OF 2010
***The Man-Cave Meets Fellow Blogospherians
Hands down the best thing about running this site is meeting fellow writers, whether it is drinking beer in a hotel lobby or talking with them on the phone two days removed from oral surgery. Here are the fellow 'Cavers I got to meet in '10 and proudly call my friends (in no particular order)...
- John Squires (and his gal, the lovely Jen) of Freddy in Space
- QoA Kristy Jett
- The Kindertrauma guys, Lance and John
- Jay Ryan of the Sexy Armpit
Over the phone, but nonetheless still awesome interactions
- James Cortez of Planet of Terror
- Becky Sayers of The Horror Effect
- Ron Scott of Strange Kids Club
- Robyn of Life By Chocolate
- Jamie Scully of Just The Cheese (texts)
And finally my e-mail peeps!
- Alex J. Cavanaugh of Alex J. Cavanaugh
- T.S. Hendrik of The Non-Review
- Rev. Phantom of Midnight Offerings
- Mike Snoonian of All Things Horror
- Jeff Atencio of The Jaded Viewer
- Jesse Cohen of Not Worth Mentioning
- Abe Yospe of Blog O' Cheese
- Carl Manes of I Like Horror Movies
- Zack Shildwachter of Z is for Zombies, who also made me a kickass piece of artwork (see Damnation beer comment above)

Wow I cannot believe how many peeps I met in 2010 alone doing this blogger thing!
***The Man-Cave relaunch in November
Thanks to my pals Rev. Phantom and Ron Scott, the site formerly known as Enter The Man-Cave got a much needed makeover that perfectly fits my site content. From conception to final design, these guys are, excuse my French, f'n awesome and the reason why you are looking at what you are looking at. Wait did that make sense?
***The Man-Cave Joins the Italian Film Review
While nursing an eye injury over the summer, Nigel Maskell reached out to me and asked me to join the IFR and his top flight staff. Teaming with such a group of great writers and the freedom to write on all films of an unfamiliar genre to me at the time, how could I say no? One of the most rewarding things I did this year and something I vow to contribute to more in 2011.***The Man-Cave Puts His Ugly Ass on Video
My new Canon Camera, a birthday present from my wife and mother-in-law, became an outlet for some entertainment on this site. The main highlights were the interviews with Kristy Jett and John Squires at Monster-Mania with the help of my friend Dan Petrucci as well as my over-the-top giveaways announcements at the close of summer.***The Man-Cave Supports Indie Filmmaking/Interviews
Another rewarding effort for The Man-Cave was my screener reviews of some independent features that made their way to me via both fellow bloggers and my direct communication with some distribution companies. Some were good, some were bad, but overall they were a lot of fun to watch by boldly venturing into the unknown with them. A bonus to watching these hard to find flicks was conducting interviews with the indie filmmakers about their projects, and in some cases indirectly made friends along the way. This is DEFINITELY something I look to continue in the new year.So there you go folks! My besties of the year, followed by my favorite moments. It's been one helluva year and if '11 can be half as cool as '10, I will be a happy man. Thanks for your year-round support that never goes unappreciated or taken for granted.
Happy New Year's to you all. And as I always say: Be Safe but make sure to Have Fun!

I really want to hear the contents of that voice mail to Cortez.
Next time you're in Boston, lemme know and we'll toss a few back.
Here's to many more years of opening the man cave!
That voicemail is the fucking funniest voicemail I've ever received. And it's still saved on my phone. So goddamn funny.
It was a great yeat indeed. All my best for an even greater 2011!
Now that was a good list!
And yes, stunned to see a certain book on your list... Your thoughts? Or was I a schmuck and missed it?
Inception definitely best movie and Tron Legacy best soundtrack.
No Kate????
Thanks for the wrap up. Had a great time readign your blog this year and look forward to next year.
Here's a toast to 2011! May it be a great year!
Cheers!
Geof, I wish I could have had a 10th of the year you had. Great post with a lot of great memories you can relive again and again. Real jobs are so soul-sucking...you da man! Your site could become a religion.
And I saw Alice Eve in a Harrison Ford/Ray Liotta/Ashley Judd film called Crossing Over...her nude scenes were so hot (except for the fact Ray Liotta was in them too). Here's to a great '11!
Thumbs up on the list, Scott Pilgrim soundtrack was great. I would add "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" to TV, but hey, it's not my list.
Hi
By coincidence I was talking with a friend yesterday about Duval beer- it was an enduring memory of time spent in Brussels back in the mid 1980s- always found that beer to have far too strong a taste- also remember they used to serve it in what appeared to be a big brandy glass. Anyhow I found the local favourite Jupiler far more agreeable so spent my time getting plastered on that instead.
HAppy New Years, man! Looks like you had quite the year. Mine wasn't anything to brag about (movies or otherwise), so hopefully 2011 will be cool enough for me to put any sort of year-end list together.
Thanks for the mention, Geof. It was great to talk by phone. It makes this blogoverse so much smaller.
Regarding the list, I haven't heard of Laura V., but I assume she's an alien? ;-)
Happy new year! xo
Mike and James - I REALLY want to hear it too. I was in rare form so I am sure it Shakespearian-like, if Will was drunk.
Alex - you talking about Perry? No my friend. Yes I loved it and will contact you soon for our interview now that the holidays are behind us. I can breathe again. haha
Frog - Thanks as always for your support, Chris. Happy New Years and let's hope for some more fun in '11.
Chuck - just the words Alice and Eve make me go crazy. Will check out the film you mentioned. Gracias mi amigo!!!!
Unablogger - welcome to the Man-Cave. I talked too much Sunny last year that I needed to chill as to not sound like a homer. There were so many funny eps this season.
Nigel - I will definitely put Jupiler on my list to try if I am lucky enough to get a chance to. My buddy just git me a full Duvel set with the glass and all.
Aaron - Thanks and happy new years to you too dude! I am sure '11 will kickass for everyone, especially the IFR.
Robyn - yes it was a funny convo when I had that swollen eye. Haha. And that girl is a alien, but she is like way hotter than E.T.
Haha man, agreed on ur films and Roger Waters. I really wish this voice-mail was online to stream lol...
What a friggin crazy year for TMC! I'm sure 2011 only has bigger and better things in store Geof, now go grab Goldeneye so I have someone to play with online!!
Nick - Umm that's only going online for a price. Like a PPL (pay per listen) filled with disclaimers...and a list of how much I drank prior.
Carl - it was a (good) busy year. Goldeneye? For the XBOX? I might try that out. We'll stage a TMC vs. ILHM standoff.
Katie Cassidy? Hell yeah, good sir!
Didn't get to play many really good games this year except for Batman and Splatterhouse, though I've heard Red Dead Redemption is quite good. Looking forward to Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Batman: Arkham City this year!!
SKC - it is no secret that I love Katie Cassidy sir. Red Dead is awesome and I recommend. Dead Rising 2 as well. Guess I should ignore the horrible reviews and jump into some Splatterhouse, no?
Those bad reviews are all posers, man. If you like naked chicks, hulking monsters, curse words, and LOTS of blood... Splatterhouse is for you. :)
SKC - you know me too well, my friend. You had me at naked chicks! No I'm kidding. It's on my queue after I am finished with Dead Rising 2. I never listen to reviews. All they do is perform fellatio on EA Sports year after year.
