Booze Reviews: Shark Attack

Subject: Shark Attack

Brewing Company: Port Brewing Company in CA

ABV: 9.00%

Location of Purchase: Pinocchio's Garden in Media, PA (7/24/10)

Date of Consumption: 8/2/10

Analysis: I love sharks and I love beer so this was naturally an instant attraction. There was also a patron at The Garden who hyped it to the moon, as he was there taking in a glass or two himself. He might have been a full-blown alcoholic, but hey, I don't judge and took his word for it. After I saw the 9.00% APV on the bottle's cool label, I was all in.

Ingested from a pint glass, this double red poured a thick and murky. And you feel a shark bite from your very first taste. The first few gulps are kinda rough, but it is smooth sailing out of the shark-infested waters after that. Bless the peeps at Port Brewing for this concoction of fun that proves not be a gimmick-only brew.

Buzz Factor: I went back to the Garden for some Shark Attack the very next day and they were sold out. Go figure, but that is how good it is. Apparently I missed it when it was on tap there as well. However, that would have been trouble for me and my wallet. Definitely get your hands on a bottle of this stuff if you are lucky enough to find some on the shelves. And if you are able to track some down, please let me know...pretty please! The 9.00% ABV per serving really helps to brighten your day, so get your drink on and remember to bring your shark repellent.

Does it use all natural shark or just shark flavoring?

Not sure I want to get bit - especially by the big dude in the photo.

It doesn't surprise me that it was sold out. I wonder if they sell it in Canada?
