Dennis Hopper (1936-2010)

"It takes more than going down to your local video store and renting Easy Rider to become a real rebel" - Dennis Hopper in Flashback, 1990

Earlier this evening, prostate cancer took the life of one of the most charismatic actors of our generation, Dennis Hopper. Hopper had appeared in more than 200 productions as recently as this year with the soon to be released
The Last Film Festival and Alpha and Omega.

To pick his most memorable roles is difficult because of the energy he put into each performance. If I had to grab some titles, I'd select as my own personal favorites (and is this ever so difficult):
Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, Hoosiers, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, River's Edge, Red Rock West, True Romance and Speed. I could have went on even longer with this list with about 10 or so more films.

A side note: I love how he and Jack Nicholson end up appearing in Monkees' Head during a fourth wall shattering moment. But this does not really count as an acting "credit".

His portrayal in Blue Velvet is a fav of The Cave!

Hopper was 74 years old and a favorite of The Man-Cave. He will be sorely missed by millions of his fans, but I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

R.I.P.

He was in River's Edge? It's been so long since I've seen it I didn't remember that.

He was definitely a phenomenal actor and a talented photographer to boot. Sure is sad to hear about his passing, makes me want to pop in Blue Velvet and pour a PBR on the curb. Rest is peace, big guy.

TS - yes he's the one with the mannequin/doll lover.

Steve - He will be missed. There are 2 films due to be released so I hope they honor his memory well.

Pat - Nice!

Strange Kid - I should've mentioned his photographic works, so I am glad you did. Instead of pouring PBR on the curb, I poured some Loose Cannon beer down my throat.
